Breakfast of Science Champions
The Breakfast of Science Champions offers eighth grade middle school students the opportunity to explore science, math, and engineering at The Ohio State University--in a program designed especially for them. Students spend a morning on campus, where they meet faculty and graduate students from sciences, mathematics, and engineering while enjoying a continental breakfast. They can ask questions and learn about career opportunities and attending college. Students then tour labs and participate in a variety of demonstrations. At the end of the school year, participants return to campus for a “virtual conference.” Utilizing video conferencing technology, students at different on and off-campus locations share what they have learned. In 2007-2008, over 300 students from seven school districts around the state of Ohio participated in Breakfast of Science Champions.
